Pop to the Wildflower Sanctuary Monday!

Hello Gardners!
The rain has softened up the soil, and the weather forecast for Monday looks perfect, so we will have a "Pop-Up" Work Day at the Wildflower Sanctuary to go after the weeds that have popped up while our backs were turned.

Please join us on the east (shady) side of the Riverwalk at 10:00 on Monday.  If you have them, bring gardening gloves, loppers, clippers, weed diggers, eye protection, and a bucket or tarp for the weeds.

Thank you so much!
Sarah

P.S. Please note the unusual start time.

Countdown to Plant Sale...Saturday, May 13

Mother Nature is busy watering all the beauties that are waiting outside our homes to go to the Plant Sale this Saturday!

We need club members to come on Friday afternoon and evening to do the set up (from 3:30 pm to 7:30pm).

We open to the public at 9am Saturday, May 13th in the gymnasium of Bethany Lutheran Church 8 N. Lincoln in Batavia for the big native and perennial plants sale.  Proceeds go toward the Wildflower Sanctuary.

With this wonderfully lush spring, there are some new additions to what I hear will be available!  In addition to many of the perennials we all love, expect to see hellebores, dropwort, dwarf Solomon seal, trillium, May apples, Jack-in-the-pulpits, and some interestingly beautiful blooming natives.  The ferns I've already seen are spectacular!

Plan to join us for the sale....to help or to purchase...or BOTH!

Volunteer to help JB Nelson 5th Graders Consider a Courtyard Garden Using Native Plants

The 5th Graders at J. B. Nelson need a volunteer or two to help them learn about native plants.  They are interested in potentially using native plants in their courtyard and looking for some basic information, help finding information and to think about how they might develop a plan for this at their school.  If you are interested in helping some motivated students, parents and teachers to explore ideas and learn more about native plants this semester, please contact Diana Sharp (630) 879-7578 for more information.  You do not need to be an expert, just someone who enjoys working with others and helping them discover information about native plants.  Spread the joy of native plants!  Volunteer.  You will be enriched more than you can even imagine!

The arboretum is on the Main Street side of BHS, and parking is available in the Main Street lot or at the church across the street.
